Lg vx9700 - Review,specs

lg-vx9700The LG Dare tops the charts as one of Verizon’s multimedia handsets, with its 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and standard 3.5 mm audio port. The finger friendly touchscreen user interface also offers plenty of eye candy for an enjoyable experience. In this day of touch-enabled multimedia monsters, how big is the LG Dare compared to the competition? We give the phone a thorough testing to see how well it fares.

Physical Aspects
The LG Dare from Verizon is clad in a familiar chrome and black color scheme that exudes class. The front of the handset is shiny high gloss, while the back is covered with a soft feel coating for extra grip. With no moving parts and only three buttons on the front, the physical build of the Dare is very nice.

Unfortunately, the insides are a bit worrisome, as the handset itself feels very hollow. The 104.1 mm x 55.8 mm x 12.7 mm (4.1″ x 2.2″ x .5″) body only weighs 107.7g (3.8oz), making the handset feel like it could have been slimmed down even more.

The LG Dare only has 3 keys on the front, located directly below the massive 3″ 240×400 pixel resolution display. The left and right keys are dedicated send/end keys, with a multifunction button in the middle.

This center key has a ‘C’ and a microphone on it, and offers two functions, depending upon which screen you are in. Anywhere other than the standby screen, the button functions as a ‘back’ key, moving you back one step through the menus. From the standby screen, the key activates the voice dialing feature of the LG Dare. The volume rocker is located on the right hand edge of the LG Dare, and the dedicated two stage camera key is located slightly further on down.

The left edge of this cell phone is adorned with, from top to bottom, a screen lock key, the microSD card slot with cover, an audio button of sorts, and the micro-USB port (for data and power) with cover. The standard 3.5 mm audio port is located on the top edge, all the way to the left, while the bottom edge of the handset is empty. The large 3″ touchscreen is flush with the face of the phone, and is not mushy, but rather very firm and solid feeling.

Each button press offers a slight haptic feedback vibration, and this can be toggled on or off in the phone’s settings. Hidden somewhat discreetly on the back of the LG Dare is the 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with Schneider Kreuznach optics. There is a small LED flash, as well, which offers assistance in low light situations. The loudspeaker grille is located directly beneath the camera lens, and the entire backplate slides off to reveal the 1100mAh battery.

LG Prada II is expected to launch in Q4 2008

prada2

Here are some detailed specs of the upcoming LG Prada II phone that BoyGenius Report got from trusted sources:

Quad-band GSM/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz)
950mAh battery
240×400 3.0″ screen
5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash and VGA recording
Bluetooth 2.1
Wi-Fi b,g
Infineon MP-EH + M180 chipset
Motion sensor
FM Radio
104.5 x 54 x 16.8 mm
Earlier, I had posted some specs from UnWired View. A lot of them are confirmed by BGR. However, there are a couple notable exceptions, namely the Mobile TV feature and the touchscreen. In these days of touchscreen devices, I believe that touchscreen is essential for a high-end smartphone to be successful. So, lets hope LG includes it, despite the QWERTY keyboard, otherwise, this product is pretty much toast.

Orange Announces LG Viewty in purple

Looking for a way to flash a little more of that personality? It has now been announced by Orange of the UK that they will be carrying a version of the LG Viewty in purple. That’s right, purple has orange Orange has purple. The only way things could get more confusing would be if Orange launched a purple Apple.

The exclusive purple edition of the LG Viewty has much the same features as its non-grape counterparts. This means that it gets a 5 megapixel camera, xenon flash, and a full faced touchscreen to go with its HSDPA connectivity and iPhone-challenging appearance. It will only be a matter of time before the Viewty gets launched in other colors as well, even from providers not named after a fruit.

The LG Viewty in purple is available for free from Orange UK, provided that you’re willing to sign up for a new, qualifying wireless plan.

LG announces KC910,Successor of KU990 Viewty

Today LG announced their latest touch-based all-in-one phone - the LG KC910. Coming as a successor of the widely popular LG KU990 Viewty, the KC910 is a real multimedia powerhouse, packing a whole load of extras.

Equipped with an 8 megapixel auto focus camera the LG KC910 is the first feature phone of the company to sport Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition it extends the functionality of the Viewty with GPS, which allows geo-tagging of the photos.

The camera of theKC910 uses Schneider-Kreuznach optics and has a protective cover. The sweet VGA videos at 30 fps and slow motion 120 fps QVGA videos are also there. A xenon flash is also on board to facilitate photography in low-light conditions. The display of the new LG will be a 3″ 262K color one with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels.

Connectivity is also duly covered in the LG KC910, which has support for all the four GSM bands. 3G with HSDPA is also available and so are Bluetooth and USB. The final extras of the KC910 include microSD card slot, TV-out support, Xvid and DivX video playback and Dolby sound for the music.

All in all, the LG KC910 is rather similar to the other recently announced 8 megapixel phones as far as the specs sheets are concerned. The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 and the Sony Ericsson C905 are on par with the KC910, except for the lack of touchscreen functionality and the fact that the Samsung packs Symbian OS. Also, LG KC910 is only 14mm thick as opposed to 17.2mm of the INNOV8 and 19.5mm of the C905.

LG KC910 is expected to hit the shelves as early as October this year. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding its pricing yet.
