Samsung has unveiled a mini notebook that it boasts is “lighter than air” — and perhaps the company is referring to Apple’s MacBook Air.

Weighing 2.8 pounds, the X360 is just a tiny bit lighter than the 3-pound MacBook Air. However, the X360 is still thicker than the Air: The X360 measures 0.66 inches deep on one end and 1.2 inches on the other; the Air measures 0.16 to 0.76 inches thick.

The X360 features the Intel Centrino 2 platform, a 13.3-inch screen and support for up to 4GB of RAM and a 120GB solid state drive. Similar to the Air, the X360 unfortunately lacks an optical drive.

Those lucky folks at Engadget have already gotten their hands on an X360, and they’ve reported positive feedback. Samsung has slated the notebook for an international October release with a price range from about $2,200 to $2,900, according to a Register Hardware story. Thinner than the Air or not, the X360 looks pretty darn sexy. We’ll have to see if the company’s “lighter than air” slogan will hold truth after Apple upgrades the MacBook Air.

Acer has introduced their new model of note book in the market and this new model comes under the name Acer Aspire 9920G Laptop - LX.AKE0U.004 and has high performance rate. The Asus G50Vm gaming laptop is now available in the United States.

A model offered at Best Buy - the G50Vm-X1 - has a 15.6-inch widescreen display with a resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels. The notebook is based on Intel’s Centrino technology and comes with the Core 2 Duo T5750 CPU at 2GHz, the latest Nvidia GeForce 9700M GT 512MB dedicated video card, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 200GB hard drive, and DVD burner.

The Asus G50Vm-X1 has a built-in 1.3MP web camera, Altec Lansing stereo speakers, HDMI output, 802.11b/g/n wireless connection, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, and 56k modem, as well as four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, 8-in-1 media card reader, and Firewire.

The G50Vm-X1 also features a small LED display that lets you receive notification of instant messages or e-mails during games.

Unlike Thinkpad X300 it is made for masses.

Not content with churning out endless numbers of Eee PC variants, Asus has now come up with a second UMPC brand - the Asus N-Series.

Freshly leaked images show the 10.2in model, the N10, looking very much like a madeover Eee, and also sporting Altec Lansing speakers and an HDMI port, suggesting a multimedia-friendly hardware boost. More details and pictures after the jump.

The more observant will spot a fingerprint reader between the mouse buttons - further evidence that this is aimed at a more demanding customer.

Inside there’s the usual Intel Atom plus up to a 320GB hard drive and, interestingly, Windows Vista.

Rumoured pricing is around $500 to $640 - not bad for the spec.
