Microsoft is planning a new version of the in the near future, this one appeasing only aesthetics. Making no actual changes to the technical aspects of the console, Microsoft is preparing a slimmed profile version of the console. Following an event in Delhi, Microsoft has confirmed that the new slimmed version will be using a 45nm CPU.
Given the issues the Xbox 360 has had with heat in the past and damage to the consoles because of it, I surely hope they have engineered the slimmer version with this in mind. With less room inside comes less surface area and open air to get rid of heat. The device is expected to start selling sometime next year.

Xbox 360 sales have doubled in the U.S. following the recent price cut for the console. According to a Bloomberg report, retailers have seen a 100 percent increase in demand for all models, compared to the previous weekend.
A leaked email from Microsoft said some models saw sales increase six-fold on the previous weekend, although details of which model and exact sales figures were not given.
Although all SKUs received a price cut, the least-expensive Xbox 360 Arcade bundle was reduced to a price below that of the Wii. Previously priced at $279, the Arcade fell to $199 - $50 less than the Wii. The Premium model, which includes a 60GB hard drive, dropped from $349 to $29,9 and the Xbox 360 Elite fell from $449 to $399.
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that the price cuts could give the Xbox 360 in general a up to 20 percent sales boost for the remainder of the year, particularly if Wii supplies are constrained in the run-up to the Christmas season.
Similar price cuts of around 30 percent will also take effect shortly in Japan, once stock is replenished in the wake of the release of Namco Bandai’s Tales of Vesperia. However, no price cuts have been announced, or even rumored, for Europe.

We’ve heard plenty of these rumors before, so it’s not surprise that they’re starting to sprout up again. It seems that some insider reports are pointing toward a new Nintendo DS model early next year and it seems that Nintendo is going bigger.
As I said before, the new Nintendo DS Lite could very well have larger displays in store for its mobile gaming community, but the kicker is that the top display will gain touchscreen capabilities. With the current model, only the bottom display is a touchscreen.
When asked about the refreshing of the DS Lite, Nintendo responded by saying that they are “rumour and speculation.” Well, it’s not like they’re going to confirm the rumours without some sort of official unveiling, right?
